Take Better Care of Your Carwash Vacuums!

Take Better Care of Your Carwash Vacuums!

When it comes to customer satisfaction and site profitability, your carwash vacuums are among the hardest-working assets on your forecourt. With relatively low upfront investment and minimal running costs, vacuums consistently deliver a strong return on investment. A well-maintained vacuum not only boosts revenue but also strengthens your reputation for quality and reliability.

So, why not show your vacuums some well-deserved care and attention this financial year? A little upkeep goes a long way—and the results will be noticed by your customers.

First Impressions Count

Vacuums are often one of the first things customers notice when they visit your site. Units that look tired or neglected can turn people away, while clean, bright vacuums send a positive message. Refreshing your vacuums with new decals, hoses, and signage instantly lifts their appeal and helps attract customers. Pair this with reliable performance, and you’ll build repeat business for years to come.

Cleaning for Performance

The secret to a long-lasting, high-performing vacuum is regular and proper cleaning. We recommend:

  • Emptying waste buckets and brushing out vac bags twice a week. Simply tipping out the waste bucket isn’t enough—dust and fine debris accumulate inside the filter bag, forcing the motors to work harder and reduce suction.
  • Using a Vac Bag Brush. It’s a dirty job, but this tool is the most effective way to loosen built-up dust from the filter material, restoring suction and extending motor life.
  • Monthly deep cleaning. Once a month, remove the filter bags completely and give them a thorough wash in the self-serve bay. Allow them to fully dry in the plant room before reinstalling.

Tip: Keep a couple of spare filter bag sets on hand so you can swap them over while others are drying. This keeps your vacuums operating at peak efficiency with minimal downtime.

Don’t Forget the Seals and Gaskets

Performance issues aren’t always about the filter bags. Regularly check the door seals and motor gaskets, as damaged or worn seals reduce suction and efficiency. The good news? They’re simple and inexpensive to replace.

  • Self-adhesive seals are quick and straightforward to install.
  • Pinchweld seals (used on Prowash iVac vacuums) only need to be cut to length. Remember: push the seal tightly into each corner and avoid cutting it too short. Replacing seals on a Prowash iVac typically requires around 2.5 metres of pinchweld.

The Payoff of Proactive Maintenance

Taking the time to care for your vacuums does more than protect your investment. It improves customer experience, increases repeat usage, reduces the risk of costly motor repairs, and maximises revenue.

A well-maintained vacuum runs more efficiently and lasts longer and provides stronger suction, leading to happier customers. At DuBois, we stock everything you need to keep your vacuums in top shape. From decals and hoses to vac filter bag brushes, filter bags, seals, and more. By making vacuum care part of your regular site maintenance routine, you’ll ensure your equipment continues to perform like a star earner for years to come.
