Alkaline Powder vs Alkaline Liquids

HPH Powder not only provides superior cleaning performance compared to liquid alkaline products but also offers significant cost savings. It stands out as the most economical choice for vehicle cleaning, demonstrating its effectiveness against virtually any competing formula. Our competitive pricing positions us as a leader in the industry, strengthening our competitive edge over rivals. Let us explain why.

1. We distinguish ourselves by offering an exclusive, patented, fully automated powder mixing and dispensing system.

2. Our powders are 100% active, without any added water. In contrast, many liquid alkaline products contain only 20-30% active ingredients and up to 74% water. This results in purchasing, shipping, and storing excessive water. HPH boxes generate minimal cardboard waste compared to the significant plastic drum waste associated with liquid products. HPH boxes also occupy less space in your plant room compared to the storage requirements of numerous liquid drums.

3. Our liquid surfactants, used in conjunction with HPH, consist of premium, highly concentrated formulas with minimal water content. Utilizing HPH reduces the need for expensive coupling agents typically required in formulated detergents. All the necessary cleaning agents are integrated into HPH, making our complementary concentrated surfactants cost-effective and capable of delivering superior cleaning performance.

4. Many competing liquid alkaline products lack the extensive range of builders found in HPH, which are essential for enhanced cleaning. A detergent builder can be defined as chemical compounds incorporated into a detergent product to enhance its cleaning effectiveness. These builders’ function in synergy with surfactants to optimize the cleaning process. Builders in HPH include:
  • Water hardness control, enabling HPH to handle even very hard water effectively, preventing water hardness ions from hindering surfactant performance and scale formation.
  • Soil suspension and anti-redeposition, ensuring that removed soils stay suspended in the water, preventing them from resettling on cleaned surfaces.
  • Deflocculation, breaking up large soil particles for easier removal.
  • Buffering, maintaining an optimal pH for cleaning by resisting pH drops as acidic soils are solubilized. Buffers resist the pH drop and thereby maintain the optimum pH for cleaning.
  • Saponification, converting oily and greasy soils into water-soluble substances using an alkali.
  • Acting as an alkalinity source and providing corrosion protection.

5. Alkaline Liquids
There are two main categories of alkaline liquids:
  1. Those used in a two-part alkaline liquid system, combined with a surfactant.
Example: Blendco SS LA Pro and LA Advanced (not available in AUS market)
  2. Stand-alone formulated alkaline products.
    Example: ProClean HA Touchless Presoak

Many competitive liquid products are high in caustic (NaOH) but lack the comprehensive range of builders found in our liquid alkaline products. Caustic is a cost-effective ingredient but insufficient for maximizing cleaning performance. ProClean is an exceptional, highly built performer that outperforms any competitive formulated alkaline liquid. While Blendco's alkaline liquids are well built, they do not match the extent of our HPH powder's builders. Liquid alkaline cleaners, despite being effective, are less cost-effective than HPH/HA Powder due to their higher water content.

6. HPH Powder and ProClean HA incorporate corrosion protection for soft metals, thanks to the presence of silicates and other proprietary corrosion inhibitors in their formulations. Due to the corrosive nature of all alkaline cleaning products in the market, it is imperative to follow established safety guidelines, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring proper storage and handling procedures are in place.

7. Concerns about phosphates in the environment are widespread, but it's crucial to consider the facts. Phosphates in the environment can cause algal blooms in lakes and ponds which choke the water of oxygen. The majority of phosphate pollution comes from rural and suburban runoff, primarily from fertilizers and farm animal manure. Detergents contribute less than 5%. HA Powder, with 38% less phosphate than HPH Powder, offers a lower-cost alternative for those concerned about phosphate levels in effluent. ProClean, with no phosphates, is the top choice for those aiming to avoid phosphate use entirely.
