Australia has a population of approximately 20 million people
spread across a vast land mass similar to the size of the USA.
Historically, the Australian car wash market has been seen as a
secondary market to the rest of the world. However at present, the
car wash industry in Australia is growing rapidly, with an
increasing volume of enquiries from potential clients, and many
existing owners looking for areas to set up a second, third, and
sometimes fourth car wash operation.
At Prowash, we are seeing a significant change in the market,
with the emergence of new car wash technology and a population
that’s becoming more environmentally aware – particularly in
relation to water conservation. With water restrictions becoming
more prevalent, the Australian
Car Wash Association (ACWA) is working closely with Water
Boards, to create a water-rating system that further encourages the
use of car-wash facilities and sets a standard of water usage for
car washes across Australia. In some instances, this has meant
owners have had to seek out alternative water supplies, including
the creation of water-recycling programs. But the good news is
that, as new legislation to protect our eco-system is introduced
and car owners are restricted in the amount of water they can use
to wash their cars at home, environmentally-responsible car washes
are becoming an increasingly-attractive option.
