Self Serve Carwash

Today’s self- serve car washes usually consist of a structure (often built from concrete tilt panels), with 2 to 6 open ended wash bays and a closed equipment room.  Each bay has a high-pressure wash wand and a foaming brush, plus a bay controller that incorporates a coin acceptor (for coins and/or tokens), a wash function selector, and a count-down timer display.  The facility is completely concreted, well-illuminated and features signage that explains how the equipment should be used.

In addition to the wash bays, most self serve car washes offer a drying area, fully equipped with vacuum cleaners and a fragrance machine.  Other features on site are a bank note changer and vending machines that sell non-competing, popular brand car wash products.

The Prowash Self Serve Car Wash Functions include:

  • Pre-Soak - applied at low pressure to loosen soil and road film.
  • Tyre & Engine Cleaner - applied at low pressure, it contains solvents that loosen grease and dirt accumulations on engines and tyres.
  • High Pressure Soap - a warm detergent solution applied at high pressure.  The powerful spray removes the road film loosened by the pre-soak.
  • Foam Brush - a soft hog-hair brush lubricated with a detergent foam that removes heavy accumulations of dirt and road grime.
  • High-Pressure Rinse - clean rinse water applied at high pressure to remove the remaining detergent solution from the vehicle
  • Wax - a water-emulsified sealer applied after the high-pressure rinse to help seal the finish and deter road film build up.  Applied at either high or low pressure, it should be followed by a high-pressure rinse to remove excess - especially from glass surfaces.
  • Clear-Coat Protectant - a foaming, low-pressure protectant for the newer clear-coat paint finishes. Follow with a high-pressure rinse for a like-new shine.
  • Spot-Free Rinse - a final clear water rinse applied at low pressure. It uses water that has been treated, by reverse osmosis, to remove most of the dissolved solids that cause spotting when the water dries.
